I wish I was able to find a way to crack the roadblock I hit whenever I need to finish a painting. Is it a lack of certain tools, or is it something mental?

Stag sketches

I need to make a logo for my ongoing portfolio project, which I decided to name "Operation Steel Stag" over the summer. I've had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted to do, but I heard that it's better to sketch a few alternatives anyway, in case something good comes up.
I think I'll stick with the original head held high pose, I realized that giving the antlers an atmospheric depth effect could be cool.

I'm going to sketch some typography, and resolve it in illustrator.

Ooh pointy!

More tomfoolery with refless character design. Usually I don't know why I draw the way I do, but certain bits about this I do. The angle of the legs came to me as I was looking at a fellow students work, the shadows of the face are something that I see so often in figure drawing sessions, etc.

Fooken zef owl

Since I didn't know what to draw in sketch group, I thought I would just use my left hand and let it wonder. This lead to some sort of owl guy, which I liked enough to rework digitally.
I also felt it would look good with a tattoo on his chest. "Pretty wise" is a tattoo worn by ninja of Die Antwoord, a South African hip hop parody. It's also refers to the wisdom of owls.

I need to make up

Since I didn't post anything last night, I'll make 2 sketches today.
I started with a commission. Mom wanted me to do something for dad's birthday.

I decided to finally start my study of animals. After I saw the book daily zoo by Chris Ayers. He inspired me to study good old nature, so this is the beginning. its done in ink wash with colored pencil overlay and a touch of marker.
